I have finally finished the restoration of my 1940s Craftsman drill press. This project had some challenges, but it’s finally finished and I think it looks great! Replaced all the bearings, machined the table and base flat and smooth, gave it a paint job, and made a few replacement parts. Check the link in my bio for the final video I published on the yoootooobs.

This should be a lot better than the original.

Just finished watching HBO’s “Fastest Woman on Earth” that chronicles the time that Jessi Combs broke the women’s land speed record at 512.7 MPH, that also led to her death. I met Jessi twice, briefly, both in Moab, UT. The first time was at an autograph session at the Warn booth at Easter Jeep Safari in 2018 – I still have the poster she signed. I need to frame that some day. Our last encounter was the following year, at EJS once again, and was completely random. I was walking down the main street in Moab and saw her near her Ultra 4 car in front of a hotel. I approached her, cautiously 🙂, to say “hello.” I must admit, I was a bit star struck and wasn’t even sure what to say! But she graciously took 5 minutes of her day to chat with me about the car and what she was up to. And even posed for the photo here. She was the real deal in every way. The documentary shares a lot about her efforts to break the record, but also delved into her family background and some parts of her personal life – what there was of it. They even show the video from the GoPro that was placed over her left shoulder during the run that took her life. It wasn’t graphic, thank goodness, but sure made it real. Had she survived, is there any doubt she would have gone even faster? The film is worth the watch.

I will never rake or bag another leaf again. We started mulching leaves a few years ago. Last time we bagged, we packed 71 of them damn yard waste bags. Never again.

I wish I could remember who pointed me in the direction of this stuff, so I could at least give some credit. This is EPDM Rubber Trim from McMaster (Part 5/8” wide x 3/4” high. Fits perfectly in the T slot of the Bridgeport. 10 feet was only $33.20. No more digging chips out of the slots or dropping a drill bit in there either. Pulls right out when you need to use them.
