Repairing a Cast Iron Vise with TIG Brazing Wire

I bought this vise a long time ago. I noticed it had a hairline crack in the base. It’s a good vice, I’ve used it more times than I can count. Now that I have a TIG machine and have learned a thing or two, I decided I would go ahead and fix it. I used 1/16″ TIG brazing rod to repair the crack. (And yes, I realize I misspelled “vise” in the video. LOL!)

Table Saw Platform

My dad gave me this 10″ Craftsman table saw years ago. Comes in handy from time to time. But where I am keeping it at the moment, makes it difficult to use. So I built something to help make it more user friendly.

Annual Birthday Wheeling Trip 2020

Celebrating some birthdays this week with a trip to Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area. Matt, Chris and I have birthday’s within a week of each other. TJ’s is about a month away. Even though Mike’s isn’t close, we let him come along anyway. 🙂

Spent the better part of two days wheeling the trails at AOAA. This is an awesome off road park for all kinds of enthusiasts. They allow motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs and full size vehicles, like Jeeps. Some trails are restricted to Jeeps only.

Even after two solid days of wheeling, there are more parts to this park we didn’t see than we did. Will definitely be making a trip back some time in the not too distant future.

P.S. Some of this video was from my iPhone in a dash mount and it sucks. Working on getting some upgrades.

DIY Water Jet Cut Welding Square

Mini Square

Inspired by a product I have seen online and used in other YouTube videos, I set out to make my own welding square. I learned a little Fusion 360 and designed this small 8″ welding square. I was fortunate enough to have this cut out on a water jet at a local maker space. Used the Primeweld TIG 225x to weld it up.

The cops don’t want you to know about this welding trick

When I got my Primeweld TIG 225X, it came with both a foot pedal and a finger trigger. I had always used the foot pedal up until recently. I was working on a project and wanted to place a few tacks, but found it awkward to reach the foot pedal from where I was. I decided to install the finger trigger on the torch and give it a try. I also try to explain 2T vs 4T and how the affected controls on the machine are used.

But don’t tell the cops! 😉

TIG Welding Cabinet Door Frames

I’ve been working on this cabinet for our powder room for some time. It’s just a pet project. I wanted to make something that was a mixture of steel and wood. I have the frame built, but have been putting off making the doors for a while because of other projects. Finally made some time to get the door frames made.

Firewood Rack

Firewood Rack

We had a large maple tree removed from our backyard recently. The tree was in bad shape and we felt it was a good time to have it removed. I asked the crew to cut up and leave one of the large limbs so I could split it for firwood to be burned in our fire pit.

I wanted to keep it dry while it seasoned, so I designed and built this firewood rack. It was a simple project, and the first time I decided to record building something just for YouTube.

Jessi Combs 1980-2019

I had the pleasure of meeting Jessi on a couple of occasions in Moab, UT. She was super nice and took the time to answer some of my questions about her race car. Jessi was the real deal, no doubt about it. She was one of the pretty faces on TV that actually knew what the hell she was talking about.

Jessi was killed trying to beat her land speed record. She already held that record at 398 mph. The off road, fabricating world lost a real bad ass.
