I have been having an issue my Hobart 175 amp MIG welder for a few years. I was getting a lot of porosity in my welds and I could never figure out why. I have only been able to use flux core in it. I want to get this problem sorted out and fixed, and to do that, I had to machine a part that is obsolete and not available.

Continuing to make repairs on the K&T Universal Milling Head Spindle Drive Gear Sleeve. I machined a piece that will replace the internal splines. In this video, I bore out the old splines and get the new ones set in place.

The two South Bend Lathe’s I currently have in the shop, both use a laced leather belt to drive the spindle. I will be replacing both of them at some point. And although there are alternatives to using a laced belt, I prefer it over the others. This tool will come in handy in the shop.
