Converting a Horizontal Mill into a Lathe – K&T Drive Gear
The last thing I need to be able to use the universal vertical head on my K&T horizontal mill is to mount a drive gear to the spindle. I have a blank tool holder that I think will make a good arbor. Now to figure out how to machine it.

New Machine Day! – Sanford Surface Grinder
I was perusing the machinery listings at a local industrial surplus company and came across what I thought (and maybe still do) a good deal on a surface grinder. This video is just a short introduction to the machine and what I know I will need to do to it.

Picked up these lathe chucks along with some other stuff at an auction. I don’t have a machine for these so they are available for sale. First is a 10” Buck Adjust True 3 jaw chuck, plain back, with key. Second is a 12” Burnerd Colchester independent 4 jaw chuck with a D1-6 back. Shipping available. PM me if you’re interested.

I have been collecting antique machinists tool chests for a short while. Came across this one at an auction and just had to have it. It’s a Union Tool Chest Works Style “G”, circa 1917. Did a minor cleanup on it. A little Murphy’s oil soap, some finish restorer and bees wax to protect it, at least from further damage. This is not a full restoration, as I think that would be more involved than I am prepared to handle. The rear veneer was 50% peeled off and I had to glue it all back down. Some previous steward of it decided to drill the centers of the pulls and use a nut and bolt to hold them on the drawer fronts, instead of just the 3 nails. Oh well. It cleaned up nice enough. I gave it to my wife to use as storage for her art markers.

Making New Jaws for a Wilton Bullet Vise
“Quick” project this week. I have this Wilton 5″ Bullet Vise I want to sell and pass on to someone else, but before I do, I want to make a new set of jaws for it. I have some A2 steel that I think will work nicely.
Remember kids, this is NOT a “how-to” channel.
