When I did the Rubicon axle swap, I painted the donor axles with rust bullet before a top coat of flat black. So far, even after a couple Ohio winters, they are still relatively rust free.

DIY corner armor.
DIY corner armor. Fabricated from a set of AEV 2 door corners, some added steel, a set of tail light enclosures from Warrior Products and finally Trail Tails from Max-Bilt Offroad. This was a fun project. Tested my newly acquired welding skills. No one made exactly the kind of corner armor I wanted. This was the only solution. Super happy how they came out. 😊
