Putting the K&T to use for its first official “job” since putting it back together!

I spent a bunch of time machining this cast iron straight edge from Denis Foster for an upcoming class on machine scraping. First time ever machining something like this, especially the odd shapes. I got a lot of help from the maker, and others, and it came out great! There’s a link in my bio to the first of the two part video series I have up on YouTube.

I removed the drive train from my K&T 2HL horizontal mill. My only purpose was to clean the insides of the column real good of all the gunk that’s collected in there over the last 80 years. That, and to inspect the gears for excessive wear or broken teeth.

Scored this nearly complete Starrett 196B back plunge dial indicator. It appears to be missing one of the ground rods. I’ll have to keep my eye out for an orphan.
Check out my other won bids in my latest YouTube video as well as some shop updates and new channel stickers.
Rebuilding a Vintage Three Phase Motor for the K&T
All the parts are clean and repainted. The windings are as clean as I am going to get them. Replacement bearings are in hand. Time to put this motor back together and see if it still runs.
Removing and disassembling the K&T 2HL Motor
Slow.
Slow. And I mean Sloooowweee but steady progress removing 80 years of hardened grease off these motor windings.
Just over here polishin’ my knobs.
Just over here polishin’ my knobs. 😉 No major progress on the K&T because of some other projects. But I’ve been busy removing a bunch of the hand controls and cleaning them up. The two power feed levers for the knee and saddle were bent and needed straightening. Plus a little paint.
